Jeg har noen gode nyheter for alle nordmenn !

Earlier on this week it was announced that Aspiro Music’s WiMP-application is now available for SqueezeBox users in Norway.

I’m happy that SqueezePad integrates with this great service right away !
By the way SqueezePad  is the only iPad App (to my knowledge) that is able to render the covers of WiMP albums (as can be seen on the second picture).

But it comes even better !

Though it looks quite good already there is enough room for improvement. I worked a bit on the menus and here is a preview of the next version:

As you can see images now keep their aspect-ratio. Furthermore items with a lot of text are rendered much better.
These improvements will be available to users of other services like BBCiPlayer or Napster as well.

A new version of SqueezePad will be ready in about two or three weeks.

So I have a question a little on the side, and did not find any good place to post it. So here goes:

I don’t own a Squeezebox at the moment, but I have an iPad and a Mac Mini acting as my media server, and want to connect a Squeezebox to my hi-fi. I am looking at the Squeezebox.

Would I need to buy Squeezebox Duet kit ( http://www.logitech.com/en-us/speakers-audio/wireless-music-systems/devices/3817 ) if I only want to control it via my iPad? Or can I just buy the Logitech Squeezebox Receiver and just skip the Logitech controller all together? Would save me a bunch of money and the space to store a remote I probably won’t use.

    Hi Jarle,

without a controller its a bit cumbersome to get a receiver working.
Never tried it myself but it’s possible.

This post contains infos about the necessary tools: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82538
But one can also read of users, that don’t have success (yet): http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82416

So if you want to try around … do it !
If not – rather go for a Squeezebox Touch or the (discontinued but still supported) Classic.

As this is the blog about WiMP integration: if you want to use that you need to be aware, that with a receiver you will need the Squeezebox-Server software installed.
With a Touch a connection to MySqueezebox.com would be enough.
